Scientists Are Studying “Ocean Worlds” in Our Solar System

When people imagine life beyond Earth, they often picture distant planets orbiting faraway stars. But some scientists believe the best chance of finding life may be much closer — inside icy moons within our own solar system. One of the most fascinating candidates is Europa. Europa appears frozen on the outside, but beneath its icy shell lies a massive global ocean. Another intriguing world is Enceladus, which actually sprays water vapor into space through giant ice geysers.
