The Ability Connection

 On Sunday afternoon, July 26th, my camera was flashing while new families and friends mingled with returning ones during our 2nd meet up at Meeks Park. The day, filled with sunshine and a cool breeze, set the stage for everyone to partake in an assortment of fun filled activities. Healthy snacks lead the way as we all moved from one activity table to the next. Socializing between kids flourished as their parents exchanged common experiences as well as looking at our informational table.

   Tables were filled with all ages and backgrounds while each enjoyed personal interests.  Windchime making was a popular activity that parents and their children enjoyed together.  Our teenage peers also assisted others in the windchimes and bead jewelry. Families and friends kept busy with our sensory tub, clay, coloring, Lego building and hula hoops during this relaxing afternoon.   I was treated to a delightful breakfast of donuts, eggs, and cupcakes. Luckily, calories for me weren't an issue during this social playtime ritual.  

    Popular easy listening tunes filled the air together with Les Kozma playing guitar.  We had a special visit from Blairsville Kiwanis Club Member Kathie McMillan. Kathie easily blended into the atmosphere, mingling with children, their families and lending a helping hand.  Before leaving, our kids left with a favorite stuffed animal, keychains and playing cards that fit into a special needs bag designed by Nicole Kozma.
